What is Speech Therapy?

Speech Therapy is a type of professional health service for individuals with communication disorders. Speech therapists are professionals that offer diagnosis, treatment and consultation to individuals with communication disorders. All speech therapists practicing in Hong Kong are required to have qualified degree in communication disorders from recognized universities and had obtained clinical competence through clinical practicum. Speech therapists would conduct assessments on individual clients and formulated individualized treatment plans according to individual clients' case history and communication needs.

Service Objectives

Our speech therapist will: help children in their speech, comprehension, and expression development help individuals with hearing impairment to improve or develop auditory and verbal skills; help individuals with voice disorders to reduce their laryngeal muscle tension and improve voicing skills; help individuals suffering from stroke or brain injury to reestablish communication skills; help individuals with dyslexia to develop effective learning mode; help non-verbal individuals to develop augmentative and alternative communication skills; participate in research projects on communication disorders and rehabilitation, for developing better assessment and treatment methods; arrange seminars for various organizations regularly, for increasing awareness on preventing communication disorders among the general public.

Computer-assisted Therapy

Widex Hong Kong was the pioneering private institution using Dr. Speech softwares to assist clinicians in diagnosis and treatment. The program is capable of providing objective analysis on articulation and voice qualities, and provide interactive training on hearing, articulation and voicing techniques.
